Regional Operator

A Regional Operator is the account responsible for managing a specific region within the system.

Definition

A Regional Operator is an account that has regulatory credentials and authority to manage a designated region in the system. This includes tasks like:

  • Creating new locations in the region

  • Adjusting listing durations and tax rates for properties in the region

  • Initiating a resignation if they voluntarily leave the role

  • The owner of a region

Authority

The Regional Operator has PermissionOrigin(Role::RegionalOperator), meaning:

  • Certain extrinsics are restricted to this role only

  • They hold operational control over the region’s administrative functions

  • They can place bids, manage collateral, and interact with region-specific proposals

Responsibilities

  1. Region Management

    • Create new locations (create_new_location)

    • Adjust property listing durations (adjust_listing_duration)

    • Adjust property tax rates (adjust_region_tax)

  2. Governance Participation

    • Propose new regions (propose_new_region)

    • Participate in auctions for regions or replacement bids

Role Enforcement

  • Must retain the Regional Operator role to call Regional Operator-only extrinsics

  • Cannot act if revoked or removed from the role

  • Subject to slashing if the regional operator misbehaves
